Iranian herbal product replaces malachite green

Researchers at Iran’s Aquaculture Knowledge and Industry Coordination Center have produced an herbal medicine that can be used as a disinfectant for fish eggs, according to Iranian press accounts.

The center developed the herbal medication called Avisheet from Thymus vulgaris, the common herb thyme. It can be used in place of malachite green (MG) a product which was discontinued as a hatchery product owing to claims that it was carcinogenic.
