Ron is the founder and CEO of Velocity Aqua – Aquaculture Entrepreneur Support Service and the host of “Think Tanks – The Sustainable Aquaculture Podcast.”

Jeff Hetrick

Director of Alutiiq Pride Marine Institute

Jeff Hetrick is a 40-year veteran of the Alaska aquaculture industry. Prior to taking over the role of director of the Alutiiq Pride Marine Institute (APMI) in Seward, Alaska in 2002, Jeff worked for 20 years in salmon enhancement, working for private non-profits as well as the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. APMI produces oysters and geoducks for the aquatic farm industry. It also produces several varieties of clams for beaches in South Central Alaska—including littleneck, butter, and razor clams.

Benjamin Normand

Operations Manager of PEI Mussel Farms

Ben Normand has been working in aquaculture for 7 years.  His experience includes working with Rainbow trout, Chinook Salmon, and Blue Mussels, in both Canada and New Zealand. His education includes a B.A. from U of T in Environmental Policy and an Aquaculture Certificate from Fleming College.  He currently lives in PEI where he is working as an Operations Manager with a Mussel farming operation.
