Nueva Pescanova installs “digital ecosystem” for shrimp production
May 18, 2022 By Hatchery International staff
Vanammei Hatcheries of Promarisco and Camanica, which is part of the Nueva Pescanova Group in Ecuador and Nicaragua, is headed towards full digitalization.
Aquaculture management software maker, aquaManager, announced it has developed a “digital ecosystem” for the shrimp hatcheries to transform its production management process. The integrated project involved full customization, including mobile applications for real-time data collection and an Internet of Things (IoT) device infrastructure.
aquaManager aimed to create a seamless integration with water quality sensors that allowed hatchery staff to homogenize data collection. Team members can use one common platform to support complex processes of larval production, evaluate performance, identifying patterns and trends.
“We are excited to be pioneers and pave the way that other companies in the sector will certainly follow,” said Guillermo Renancio Artal, Nueva Pescanova director of technology. “This project is an integral part of our shift towards the full digitalization of production and within the context of the digital transformation strategy of the Nueva Pescanova Group.”
Nueva Pescanova is a leading shrimp producer with a production spreading across 7,000 hectares. One of the hatchery facilities in Nicaragua is the biggest one in Central America.
