GenoMar appoints Gustavo Bozano as new CEO

Beginning May 1, Gustavo Bozano will be the new chief executive officer (CEO) of GenoMar Genetics Group.

Bozano holds a master and doctor of science in animal science from the Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil and studied business strategy at the University of La Verne, Calif., USA. He has over 30 years of experience from the Brazilian aquaculture industry where he has held various technical, managerial and leadership positions. 

For 19 years, he was the managing partner at AquaLagus Consultoria e Representação Agropecuária. He also worked as technical and operations director at Mcassab, a Brazilian tilapia producer and commercial and marketing manager for animal feed at InVivo Group.

“I am very excited about joining GenoMar,” said Bozano. “I have experienced the value of genetics and efficient distribution of genetic products to be a key contributor to a healthy and profitable tilapia industry.”

His reputation in the tilapia industry and extensive experience covering the entire tilapia value chain, will play a decisive role in the process of continuous improvement of GenoMar products and services to our customers as well as developing the team’s skills and competences,” said Odd Magne Rødseth, chairman of the board. 

Bozano is taking over from Alejandro Tola Alvarez, who was CEO of GenoMar Genetics Group for 7 years. He has now been appointed as executive director for non-salmonids in Blue Future Holding.

He has been the key person leading the company in a period of great innovation and expansion of our tilapia operations in Asia and LATAM,” said Rødseth about Alvarez who worked at GenoMar for 18 years.
