This is one of the main triennial meetings on genetics worldwide attended by recognized specialists in the field, as well as representatives from various nations, academic institutions and companies related to research in genetics and genomics in aquaculture.

ISGA 2022 is organized in Chile by Universidad de Chile and the Technological Institute of Salmon Research (INTESAL), in collaboration with Universidad Austral de Chile, Universidad de Los Lagos  and Universidad Andrés Bello.  According to the Chair of the Organizing Committee, Dr. José Manuel Yáñez, the goals of the symposium are promoting the communication between international researchers and the industry on the relevance and potential of genetics and genomics in aquaculture species, as well as an opportunity of stimulate collaboration and exchange of ideas between the industry and academia.

During the symposium, the latest advancements on genetics and genomics in aquaculture will be shared by national and foreign genetic experts through oral presentations, e-poster sessions, special social activities and technical excursions focused on Chilean aquaculture industry. Touristic options to know more about the Northern Chilean Patagonia are also being prepared and available for all the attendants. The topics that will be addressed are: biotechnology and functional genomics; sexual control; genomic prediction; quantitative genetics and selective breeding; industrial application of genetics; gene editing; genetics of diseases and stress; genetics of nutrition; epigenetics; genomes and metabiomes; populations genetics; in addition to ethic, food safety and environmental risk.
