Investment fund, Russian Friends Capital (RFC), has announced the development of two Atlantic salmon production facilities to be located in Russia and Kazakhstan, and has selected AquaMaof Aquaculture Technologies Ltd. as the recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technology provider for both facilities.

Tuloma Salmon, the Russian facility located in the Tula region, will be a two-hour drive away from Mowcow. The Kazakhstan facility will be located beside the border between Kazakhstan and China, in an economic zone.

With design work for both facilities due to begin in the next quarter, Dmitry Perman, partner at RFC, explains, “The selection follows a comprehensive due diligence process in which AquaMaof’s RAS technology stood out in terms of lower energy use and bio security. The fact that the company’s technology has been proven in the production of salmon up to market size was also a significant factor in our decision. These facilities are part of our strategy to get locally-produced, fresh, healthy salmon closer to consumers in all major CIS regions.” Both facilities are expected to have a production volume of 2,500 metric tonnes, each.
