Silver Cup Feeds

What is today one of the largest commercial fish feed manufacturers in the country, started out more than six decades ago as a modest wholesale produce company. For many years the company, founded by Sterling H. Nelson, also manufactured commercial animal feed and successfully merchandised a variety of home food storage products and fine nuts.

Then in 1956, three of Sterling's sons - Cal, Don and Norm - formulated a dry pelleted fish feed for sale in Utah, Idaho and Colorado. The demand for the new product was so overwhelming that within two years the company dedicated all of its resources and time to manufacturing Sterling Silver Cup Trout and Salmon Feed.

The company that once bore Sterling's name now does business as Nelson and Sons, Inc., reflecting the succession in management by his sons. Today the plant is operated by the third generation of Nelsons - Chris, Dana and Richard - in the same tradition as that of their fathers and grandfather.

Like Sterling himself, both his sons and grandsons have rolled up their sleeves and taken an active role in the day-to-day operation of the company's facilities.

Sterling always believed in meeting the needs of his customers by providing a superior quality product at a fair price. His sons, and now his grandsons, have continued to operate the company under the same principles. You can be sure of getting the same complete satisfaction today as when Sterling founded the company more than 65 years ago.
