For over 35 years, NMT has specialized in implant tags for live fish, crustaceans, reptiles and amphibians, and other aquatic animals in a manner that minimizes biological impact while providing clear and unbiased data. More than 65 million animals are tagged annually with our products. Our Visible Implant Elastomer tags (VIE), Coded Wire Tags (CWT), and Visible Implant Alpha tags (VI Alpha) are used in hatchery and aquaculture programs around the world for identifying fish stocks, different families in broodstock development, and for evaluating the effects of rearing practices, vaccination, feed, or other factors on the survival and growth of the target species. These tags can be implanted in small animals and at all life stages and are typically retained for the life of the animal. Crustaceans retain the tags through molts.

Northwest Marine Technology is pleased to introduce the Individual Fish Counter. The system is designed for counting fish when they are being processed by hand, such as for fin clipping or vaccinating. The counter will accommodate fish as small as 0.5 grams. The counter consists of a Main Control System (below) and up to 12 Individual Counting Stations. The fish are placed individually into the Counting Station funnels (above) and sensors detect passing fish. The Control System tallies the individual counts per station and the total count. In addition, the operator can set a total count that will trip an alarm when reached. This feature will be particularly useful for populating ponds. The Individual Counting Stations can be integrated into most fish handling equipment.
