Hatchery International is printed on a web-fed press using Lectra-Bright white newsprint. The finished trim size is 11" x 14.5
There are no bleeds on any pages.
Colour
Please ensure that your full colour ads are separated cmyk. All spot colours are considered process and must be separated cmyk.
Resolution
Halftones and screens are printed at 100 line screen. A 15% dot gain can be expected. Please ensure that all photos are at least 200 dpi resolution. Pictures from web pages are only 72 dpi and will not reproduce as well. Hatchery International cannot ensure quality of web based pictures (jpg and gif).
Preferred formats:
Hatchery International operates a digital workflow and prefers ads in the following formats: InDesign CS, QuarkXPress 5.0, Adobe Illustrator 8.0 to 10.0, Adobe Photoshop 7.0, Adobe Acrobat PDF.
Adobe Acrobat PDF Files—Preferred files are generated by Adobe Acrobat 4 or Acrobat 5 using the Distiller Job Option
PRESS SETTING.
Distiller Job Options settings:
- Compatibility: Acrobat 4
- Optimize PDF w Resolution: 1200 dpi
- Compression for Color and Grayscale
- Check the Embed All Fonts box
- Color?specify Leave Color Unchanged
Adobe Photoshop to Ver. 7.0
- Save as tiff format or supply PSD.
- Flatten all layers
- Convert to CMYK, 20% dotgain, light black ink generation
- Compression set to NONE!
Adobe Illustrator (10.0) & Macromedia Freehand (9.0)—
- Save as EPS Files
- Create outlines/paths of all text
- All imported images must be embedded or linked and included.
- Save the file as CMYK with an output resolution no lower than 800 dpi
QuarkXPress (4 or 5) & Adobe In-Design
- Collect for output with all fonts and Graphics
- Compress all items into one file
- Fax proof of ad for reference
Unsuitable formats
Adobe Pagemaker (not supported)
Microsoft Word / Microsoft Publisher files (not supported). If you have created your ad in a Microsoft product and unable to save as a PDF file, please send fax of layout and send text and images by email. We will layout the ad, art charges may apply.
Digital File Submission
Compression:
When sending ad files it is always preferred to compress your files. Hatchery International can accept .zip, .sit or .sea files. Please fax a proof to our office 709-754-5059.

Size limit 60mb.
One more detail: Please avoid using hatchery as the title for the files you transfer. You wouldn't believe how many things are labelled Hatchery at our offices!
